Department of Child Studies

The primary goal of Child Studies is to see children develop well. In order to do so, we observe and research the causes and effects of children and their environment and vice versa.  There are four areas of concentration: Child Developmental Psychology, Child Education, Family and Counseling, and Special Education.  Each area of concentration offers various opportunities for hands-on experience in the field. All graduating students earn a Level 1 teacher¡¯s certificate and about 30% of the graduating class has the opportunity to earn the Level 2 kindergarten teacher¡¯s certificate.

Department of Family Welfare

In order to improve the welfare of individuals and families, we produce experts in the field through teaching and researching the relationship between individuals/families and their environment. By completing relevant courses listed, students are able to earn certifications in Level 2 social welfare, Level 1 family welfare, Level 1 teacher, Level 2 family life teacher, real-estate managers and approximately 5% of the graduating students may earn a Level 2 middle school (home economics) teacher¡¯s certificate. Other career paths for graduating students include interior management and counseling.
